1:1 Ecotherapy

Working in partnership with nature to support mental health and wellbeing

Is ecotherapy for me?

People come to ecotherapy for all sorts of reasons. I offer this approach because I believe that much of the distress we experience as human beings in a complex world is tied up with the unnatural separation we are subjected to in a society that has forgotten we are part of nature too.

Ecotherapy can help with navigating difficult experiences, life transitions, feelings of overwhelm or disconnection, eco-grief and climate distress, or anyone looking for psychological support outside of the traditional therapy room. Sessions have access to a calm, confidential indoor space, as well as accessible, local green and nature-rich spaces.

As a clinical psychologist I am a trauma-informed practitioner and am trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches. I often draw on compassion-focussed therapy (CFT) and  acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) alongside ecotherapy. How we work together will be a collaborative process and tailored to you and what you are brining to therapy.

If you would like to book in a free 30 minute video or telephone call to find out more and think about whether this approach is something you would like to try, do get in touch and we can find a time to chat.

Location

Sessions are offered at a peaceful location in Bedminster in South Bristol, with good public transport links.

We begin by meeting indoors in a confidential therapy space. As and when feels right for subsequent sessions, we can spend more time outdoors. The indoor therapy space is handily located very close to Windmill Hill City Farm and Victoria Park, and together we will agree which spaces you would like to spend any or all of a session in.

When we first meet we will talk about the different locations and important considerations about being outside in public places, particularly about confidentiality and how we can make outdoor work feel safe.

Practicalities

Session length

For outdoor work I recommend that our sessions are 90 minutes. If this length feels unmanageable, this will not be a barrier to us working together and sessions can be an hour.

We can work together on a short term or longer term basis, this can be discussed during the first session.

Payment

Payment is made in advance by BACS and will be required for sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.

At the moment I am only able to offer sessions on Friday mornings.

I cannot provide a crisis service or respond to immediate risk. Please contact your GP, 111, or attend A&E if you require more urgent support. You can also call the Samaritans on 116 123 in the UK.

Rates

I offer a three-point scale for session fees, with two reduced fee options - you choose the rate that feels appropriate for your means and I will not question this. For any sessions where we spend time at Windmill Hill City Farm, 10% of my session fee will be donated to the farm.

Until July 2027, whilst I am completing my advanced training in ecopsychology and nature-based practice, I am offering reduced rates for ecotherapy sessions:

Hourly rate:

£90 / £70 / £50

From August 2027 rates will be as follows:
